Reckoning Release Event

It looks like I will be participating in the Reckoning Release Event are my local gaming shop that will be taking place on the 5th of July. I am pretty excited as I will be playing my Convergence and the shop has not seen my army hit a table there. I went over a couple of the special rules in a previous post and I'll go over them in some detail

When participating in this event, you accrue points by reaching certain goals that are part of the event. The goals are Limited and Unlimited points. Limited points are given out to players for doing certain things for and during the event. Here are a couple of the goals you can reach. Playing with a fully painted army, the player will receive 2 points. Dressing as a character from the Iron Kingdoms will earn you 3 points. I plan on starting the Event with 8 Limited points which should be a good start. here are the Limited points that I will be earning

  • 2pt - Fully painted army
  • 2pt - Play against 3 or more different opponents
  • 2pt - play at least three games, fielding a different warcaster each time.
  • 2pt - have the event organizer roll your dice on an attack or damage roll aimed at destroying the opponent's Warcaster or Objective*

Unlimited points are give out for playing the game. You receive 1 point for each game you play during the event. you can receive an additional point for winning a game by assassinating the opponent's Warcaster\Warlock or you get two additional points by winning the game on Scenario condition. so you can earn a whopping 3 points from winning a game by scenario... but what is the scenario? Below are the map and the details of the Scenario

Demolition Run Scenario Map

DESCRIPTION
This land is yours! The enemy seeks to destroy the valuable
resources you have built here, and they must be stopped.
Obliterate your foes and smash their prized monuments. The
time of Reckoning is now!

SETUP
For this scenario, each player uses one of the 120 mm
Reckoning objectives on the following pages. Reckoning
objectives are friendly Faction models to the player who
controls them. A player must use the Reckoning objective
that matches the Faction he is currently playing.
If HORDES armies are allowed for this event, all HORDES
players must use the Wild Outpost Reckoning objective.
Before the game begins, each player marks three Reckoning
objective deployment zones on his side of the table as
indicated on the map below. Terrain cannot be placed in
these deployment zones.
Starting with the first player, each player places his Reckoning
objective in one of the three objective deployment zones on
his side of the table. Once both players’ Reckoning objectives
are deployed, remove the markers for the unused objective
deployment zones.
Additional terrain cannot be placed within 2˝ of other terrain
features or objectives. Linear obstacles and obstructions
cannot be placed within 5˝ of other linear obstacles,
obstructions, or objectives.

VICTORY CONDITIONS
A player wins if the enemy Reckoning objective is destroyed
or removed from play, or if he has the only warcaster in play

So the map and rules for the scenario are straight forward but what makes a huge difference is each faction gets a specific objective that will be used. All the objective have no important stats other then DEF 5, Arm 20 and being a construct (Cygnar being the snowflake and having an additional immunity to electric attacks).  Some of these have great rule and will drastically change how you will try to win the game by scenario. The Convergence of Cyriss objective is pretty cool.

Concept for the next battle engine?
As you can see, the Clockwork Hive will create a servitor whenever it is hit by an enemy attack. The key to how this objective works in the wording, when this model is HIT. this means the Clockwork Hive does not need to take any damage from an attack and still will generate servitor. this is going to make it really hard for the enemy to shoot this objective. It is repairable and Immobile, after all, it is a giant servitor dispenser.

This is going to be so much fun and I am the only Convergence of Cyriss player at the shop, so I will be getting my faction coin for sure. I will be taking pictures of my games and detail how the event went in future posts. Until next time!
